Iraq played its first home soccer game since 2002, defeating Palestine 3-0 in a match that was as much about the nation's struggle for stability as it was about sports.A sellout crowd of about 25,000 attended the exhibition game at Fransou Hariri Stadium, many waving Iraq and Palestine flags and chanting "Iraq, Iraq."
The two teams will play again today at Al Sha'ab National Stadium in Baghdad which represents the first match of its kind in our capital for a long time.

Also, Iraqi Mojo has a question:
Is Maliki abusing his powers?
He explains his question by stating:
"Maliki’s ascent has become a familiar narrative in Iraq. In 2006, a reputation for weakness helped secure him the post. Opponents deemed him malleable. Since then, he has concentrated power in the hands of what critics call “the impenetrable circle’’ and taken command of military units that delivered him and his Dawa party what they had lacked since 2003: men with guns.

Sami at the Iraqi Skies is flying high. This time Sami is reviwing a novel entitled "Victoria". I have to say that Sami is alwsays faitful to the readers of his blog:
I was worried as I was reading the novel about the fate of Victoria till I reached the middle of chapter seven, page 78, when she quit her plan to suicide and she aimed to go back home. I decided that I should stop reading now and told you about this magnifisant novel, “Victoria”, written in Hebrew by Sami Michael, translated to Arabic by Raja’a Naqqash.
I enjojed more than any thing else, the pictures of Baghdad bridges and in particular, the hanging bridge which was opened in 1959:

My parents, HNK and I are going to do Al-Umrah inshallah. This is going to be really exciting. This time I'm not going to ask you to pray for me, but rather it would be me praying for you! :D

Mohammed at Iraq the Model is writing about two issues:
1. The ethnic clashes in China which took away the life of more than 180 individuals from the minority Muslim Uighur community
2.Egyptian Marwa Shirbini who was killed in Germany by an individual representing rightwing extremists supposedly because of her veil.
He concludes by stating:
The conflicting differences in Muslim reactions to the two cases I mentioned above demonstrate that the issue is not the act itself (i.e. cartoons, veil) but the using of the situation to enable the accomplishment of the greater political and/or military goal. The angry mobs we see in the streets are the tools created by political state and non-state actors with supporting media becoming the delivery mechanism. The reactions are not guided by a moral cause, the number of victims, or the type of atrocity.
